Very windy today. Was in my face most of the way out. Should make return trip easier. Lunch in Marthasville. Hometown of Harvey & Tammy Siem and apparently the Griswolds as you can see in one of the photo. #KatyTrail #continentaldivide #cycling #bicycle #training #Marthasville #garminlivetrack

21.9 miles into ride. Mat son, MO.
Nice day. A little cold. Was 37 degrees at the start. Planning to ride 102 miles today with some climbing added in. You can see where I am if you use the Garmin Livetrack link I posted on Facebook. #KatyTrail #continentaldivide #cycling #bicycle #garmin #livetrack #matson #training
Training ride for April 6 - 102 miles.
For tomorrow's ride, I plan on using the Garmin LiveTrack app. This will allow you to follow my progress and and see my location through Facebook, if that has any interest for you. Tomorrow I plan to ride 102 miles on the Katy Trail. I will leave the trail a few times to add some climbing into the ride. For anybody who is wondering why I am posting the information for my training rides, my brother-in-law(David) and I are riding the the Continental Divide this summer from Ro

112.5 Miles on the Katy Trail Today. Raining for a lot of the day
Was a good day for training and testing out equipment and myself in the rains. Everything went well excepts I killed my MP3 player by getting water on it. Katy Trail was very mushy in spots from the rain. Like riding through quicksand You might think that the Katy Trail is an easy ride because it is flat. There are a couple things to consider, however. Because it is flat you have to always be pedaling. There are no coasting down hill areas. In addition, because it is grave

12:10pm 58.7 miles into ride. Eating lunch on the Katy Trail along the Missouri River.
It has been a cool day with a lot of rain. Overall a good training ride so far. The bike and my backpack are full of mud. Not too many people out today. Need to get going again. I am starting to get cold. For Facebook fans, I had another avocado, turkey and cheese sandwich, some unsweetened organic applesauce and Jelly Belly Sports Beans for desert. Those jelly beans taste really good. Last thing to mention. My daughter, Anna, is playing Patty in the musical Grease at Franci

17 miles into today's ride. 95 to go. Sure is rainy.
I am getting the opportunity to train in the rain and test equipment in the rain. Everything is working well. It has been raining the whole ride. Pretty hard at times. I can hear thunder in the distance. Nice and peaceful. The birds are singing. I have seen 3 other people on the Katy Trail today. I don't know what the heck they are doing out in the rain. Since this will be posted on Facebook, I have to mention that I just ate an avocado, turkey and cheese sandwich. #continent

102 miles of training today. A good ride today, but Mother Nature decided to make it more challengin
102.92 miles of training today. Was cold and raining during the first half. Then the sun came out and the wind picked and I had a strong wind in my face the whole way back. Burned 4000 calories during the ride. I felt good today. Legs were strong. Wind was good. My rear did not hurt too much. #continentaldivide #Cycling #Katytrail #continentaldecidetrainingride #GDBR #training #mountainbiking #bikeriding

54 miles into today's ride. 11:45am. Sun has come out.
A few miles past Treloar MO along the Missouri River. Very peaceful. Saw a barge on the river. Aside from the lady with the dog this morning and a man in a tractor cutting brush, I have not seen anybody else on the Katy Trail. Not many animals either: a cardinal, deer and squirrel. Turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch. Food tastes really good when you are hungry. #Katytrail #continentaldivide #cycling #bicycle #training

17 miles into ride. 32 degrees & rainy. It's a great day.
At Weldon Spring MO, I have only seen one other person today on the Katy Trail. She was walking her dog and didn't look happy(kids if you read this, that would be you). I apologize to Mother Nature(Jan). Whatever I did to irritate you. I am sorry. Put more of the bags on the bike. Everything is working well. 102 miles is the goal today. 85 miles to go. Thank you to my lovely wife. for putting up with my nonsense. #Katytrail #continentaldivide #bicycle #rainy

92 miles. A good day riding.
92.7 Miles. Went well. Day was cold for most of the day. It was raining when I started at 6:43am. Rode to about a mile past Treloar, Missouri on the gravel Katy Trail. Fitness wise I am doing very well. Legs were fine the whole ride. Aerobic system worked fine as well. The thing I need to work on is my rear. 7+ hours sitting in one spot gets to you. I need these long rides to toughen up. All of the bikes systems worked well. I will be putting on the big saddle bag for t
