I must admit when I loaded up the bike, I had very little confidence on how it would hold up, or even myself in the ability to carry all of it during dirt trails or bumpy downhill roads. Decided to leave it to my luck in whatever happens. The weather hasn’t been great the last week in the Bay, still on the 60s and windy, pretty much the same as it was during the winter season. The route was clear to ride with a GPS App, which I was surprised for its accuracy on details even th

Planning on camping in Hermann this weekend.
I am planning on riding to Hermann this Friday afternoon, camping there, and riding back Saturday morning. The plan is to have all of the gear with me I will take on the trip to see how things work out. Of course as usual on my training rides, it is expected to rain both Friday and Saturday. That will be fine though. Just a little water. The ride is about 65 miles each way so that will be a little less than during the actual ride, but it will be good training. #Missouri #Katy

We would like to honor one of charities on this Memorial Day weekend. The Semper Fi Fund.
Following is the basic information about The Semper Fi Fund. Our Mission is crucial. Our duty is clear. The Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/ 11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, ensuring that they have the resources they need during their recovery and transition back to their communities. We are please to announce the charities benefiting from the Continental Divide Charity Ride
After much work on the part of our charities, we are pleased to announce that Mental Health American and The Semper Fi Fund will be co-beneficiaries for our ride. 100% of funds donated will be going directly to the charities and all of the funds will be split 50/50 between the two charities. These two charities are doing tremendous good for our country and deserve our full support. Both charities are very highly ranked by charitywatch.org. Please visit their individual web

125 miles on a beautiful day.
Really nice day today. Rode 125 miles. Burned 4200 calories. I felt good all of the way until I was 12 miles out and ran out of water. I had to slow down to keep from dehydrating too much. The training for the Continental Divide ride is going very well. I can feel myself getting steadily stronger. All of the arrangements have been made for the trip. We will start the ride on June 17. We are almost done with setting up the charities we hope you support because of our rid

63 miles, 11:00am in McKittrick Missouri
It is a really nice day. Things are going well. I am planning on 125 miles today. Should have a nice tailwind on the way back. Not much of note happened so far today. #continentaldivide #KatyTrail #McKittrick #Missouri #cycling #bicycle #bikepacking #training

35 miles in Dutzow Missouri 8:30am
Perfect day today. Cool with a nice breeze and sunny. I don't know how many miles I will do today, but I feel strong. #continentaldivide #KatyTrail #cycling #bicycle #Dutzow #Missouri

The Vino Fondo, 104 miles 5,495 feet of climbing on an absolutely beautiful day.
It was great to be out riding today. Wonderful weather. The Vino Fondo is a timed cycling event put on by Big Shark Bicycling Company around the Augusta area. Two 100+ mile rides in three days. I did not feel very tired at all during or after the ride today. The training for the trip is coming along nicely. Continuous gradual increases in effort yields great results over time. So I rode 103 miles on the Katy Trail on Thursday. That ride was 103 miles long and had 732 feet

103 miles in the mud on "the Day of the Cardinal"
I saw at least 30 cardinals today. It must be mating season or something. It was a good day riding. I got covered in mud. 103 miles. A lot happened today. The wreckage as a result of the flood was all over. I would say at least a third of the part of the Katy Trail I rode on had been under water. The flooded Cadillac from last week was still in the road even though the water had receded away from it. There were a lot of washed out sections. I have some pictures of an old
